Wrapping Up a Hastings-Sunrise Sale Over Coffee at Platform 7

It’s always nice to have that time with a client once all the business has been taken care of, and everyone can finally relax.

Recently, Olivia and I met up with our client Kerry at Platform 7 Coffee in East Vancouver after completing the sale of a property she hired us to sell at 2497 Wall Street in Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood. Platform 7 is a great little neighbourhood café with a train-station-inspired interior and a bit of a Harry Potter feel to it. As you can see from the photo, it was a very casual afternoon—coffee, a few pastries and a chance to sit around the table without having to talk about showings, negotiations or contracts.

Selling a Special Property on Wall Street

The home at 2497 Wall Street was a really interesting property for us to represent. Located right near the waterfront in Hastings-Sunrise, the setting was easily one of its biggest strengths.

The property looks out toward Burrard Inlet with fantastic views of the water and the North Shore mountains. It’s the kind of location that’s difficult to replicate, and that became an important part of how we presented and marketed the home.

At the same time, the house itself needed extensive work. That meant we had to look at the property a little differently. It wasn’t simply about marketing the existing house—it was also about understanding the value of the land, the location and the possibilities the property offered to the right buyer.

Olivia and I were ultimately chosen to represent Kerry because we have considerable experience selling homes for development and marketing properties where the underlying lot and location can be just as important as the home itself.

As East Vancouver Realtors, we’ve worked with many different types of properties over the years, from completely renovated character homes and condos to older houses where renovation, redevelopment or long-term land value becomes an important part of the conversation. Each one needs a different approach.

With 2497 Wall Street, the waterfront setting, views and prime East Vancouver location were the qualities we wanted buyers to immediately understand.

Getting to Know Our Clients Beyond the Sale

Working with Kerry was a fantastic experience from beginning to end.

She has plenty of her own experience with real estate and is a very pragmatic thinker, which made conversations throughout the process straightforward and productive. She’s also warm, easy to talk to and someone Olivia and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with.

That’s part of why meeting at Platform 7 after the sale was so enjoyable. During a listing there are always deadlines, decisions and things that need attention. Once everything is finished, you finally get the opportunity to learn a little more about each other outside of the business side of the relationship.

Over the years, quite a few of our clients have become good friends and people we continue to stay in touch with long after their property has sold. For us, that has always been one of the more rewarding parts of working in real estate.

We have a feeling Kerry will be one of those people as well.

It was a pleasure helping her with the sale of the home, and an equally nice way to wrap things up—three people sitting around a small table in an East Vancouver coffee shop, enjoying some coffee and conversation after a successful sale.
